Sounds Familiar Go Back to School

Sounds Familiar Community Choir went back to school on Monday 16th October 2017, when they visited Cranfield Academy, as part of a scheme for the school to develop links with the community. The idea of our visit was to explain to the children what a choir was and how it worked, as well as taking part in singing.  All 260 children took part in our warm up, pretending to be buzzing bees and llamas. The sound created was amazing and it really felt like there was a swarm of bees in the hall. The choir sang two pieces from their repertoire, “Hallelujah” (from Shrek) and “Top of the World”. The children then sang two of their own pieces, “I the Lord of Sea and Sky” and “Shine Jesus Shine” with the choir joining in. The sound was amazing and the choir found the whole experience very moving. Sounds Familiar are looking forward to visiting again on 18th December to sing carols with the children.

What better way to digest a delicious Christmas Dinner than to gather together for Carols with the “Sounds Familiar” community choir? Children from Saint Paul’s site enjoyed a brisk walk to Saint Peter’s site, where the children and teachers gathered to enjoy carols and Christmas songs together. Songs and carols included, Rudolph the Red –Nosed Reindeer, Santa Got Stuck up the Chimney, Jingle Bells, All on a Bethlehem Night, Silent Night and Away in a Manger. We are so grateful to the choir for giving up their time to share the joy of song at this time of year and on behalf of the children, wish all of the Sounds Familiar Choir, a very merry Christmas.
